Air Peace Files for Direct Lagos–São Paulo Route, Poised to Restore Historic Link
Air Peace has reportedly filed an application with Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to operate a once-weekly Lagos–São Paulo Guarulhos service. The proposed route, scheduled for a December 15, 2026 launch, would be operated using a Boeing 777-200ER.
The airline has yet to officially confirm the route or open ticket sales. If finalized, however, the service would mark a significant milestone by restoring the first scheduled direct air link between Nigeria and Brazil in 32 years, following Varig’s withdrawal from the route in 1994.
The filing follows Air Peace’s receipt of Brazilian operating authorization in June 2026 and aligns with earlier plans announced by CEO Allen Onyema regarding nonstop São Paulo flights. Those plans were contingent on the delivery of the airline’s second B777-200ER (registration 5N-CEG) in March 2025.
