Corps Marshal Mohammed Bags Prestigious Industry Award for Pioneering Road Safety Reforms

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has received a resounding industry endorsement, with Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed being conferred with a distinguished award for his transformative leadership in drastically curbing road traffic fatalities across Nigeria.

The honour was presented on Thursday, June 25, 2026, during the 10th-anniversary gala of City Business News Online in Lagos, a high-profile gathering that brought together heavyweights from the maritime, logistics, transport, energy, and capital market sectors to celebrate a decade of impactful business journalism.

Presenting the accolade, Motoring Editor of *The Sun* Newspaper, Moses Akaigwe, lauded the FRSC for its bold consistency in enforcing traffic regulations and pioneering public enlightenment campaigns. He specifically cited the Corps’ strategic deployment of technology-driven solutions to modernize traffic management and enhance compliance nationwide.

Under Mohammed's leadership, the FRSC has intensified its grassroots outreach, targeting commercial drivers, fleet operators, and motorcyclists through sustained campaigns against speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, drunk driving, and the disregard for seat belts and child restraints. These reforms have been instrumental in reducing both crash fatalities and severe injuries on the nation’s highways.

Receiving the prestigious award on behalf of the Corps Marshal, Zonal Commanding Officer Assistant Corps Marshal Matthew Olonisaye, expressed deep gratitude to the organizers. He reaffirmed the FRSC’s unyielding commitment to saving lives and called on all road users to strictly abide by traffic laws as a collective civic duty.
