FG Approves 50% Fare Discount on Train Services for Eid-el-Kabir

The Federal Government has approved a 50 per cent fare reduction on all Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) passenger services to ease the cost of travel during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

The discount took effect on Wednesday, 26 May 2026, and will run through Monday, 1 June 2026.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Funsho Adebiyi, said passengers who purchased tickets at the full fare before the announcement would be entitled to a 50 per cent rebate. The rebate can be utilised for any train journey on or before 1 June.

Adebiyi added that all existing train schedules and timetables remain unchanged.
