Kugbo Bus Terminal Repairs Underway After Rainstorm Damage – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that repairs have commenced on the Kugbo Bus and Taxi Terminal, which was partially destroyed by a rainstorm on April 7.

Speaking on Monday in Abuja after inspecting ongoing projects, Wike described the incident as a natural disaster beyond human control. He thanked God that no lives were lost, noting that only roofing sheets were affected and that the terminal’s structure remained intact.

“What happened was that a strong wind blew off parts of the roof, but repairs are ongoing,” Wike said.

The Kugbo terminal, inaugurated in June 2025, is one of three newly built bus and taxi terminals in the FCT. Wike had initiated the construction of terminals in Mabushi, the Central Business District, and Kugbo in July 2024 to improve commuter safety and convenience.

According to the minister, although the Kugbo and Mabushi terminals were completed and inaugurated last year, they could not begin operations because their management required approval beyond ministerial level. He said the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has now approved the management of both terminals under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement, following President Bola Tinubu’s endorsement.

Wike assured that the terminals would become operational soon.
