Prince Segun Obayendo Leads Transport Unions in Tinubu‑Shettima 2027 Endorsement at City Boys Movement
A unified front of transport operators from road, rail, maritime, aviation, and pipeline sectors convened at the City Boys Movement headquarters on Wednesday, throwing their collective weight behind the re‑election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The delegation was led by Prince Segun Obayendo, National Coordinator of the Transporters for Tinubu/Shettima (TFT) 2027 group. The visit marked the first time leaders across all transport modes have assembled under a single political banner, with a promise to harness their vast grassroots networks for the 2027 campaign.
Obayendo characterised the transport sector as a "military‑directional network" where orders flow from the top to the rank‑and‑file without friction. He noted that the absence of a united voice had historically diluted the sector's political influence, a shortcoming the new coalition intends to fix.
“For the first time, we have all come together. If we remain fragmented, we cannot reap the full benefits of democracy,” Obayendo said. “Today, we are here to make our votes count, not quietly, but collectively, in partnership with the City Boys Movement.”
Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, speaking on behalf of the movement, welcomed the transporters and pointed to the administration’s flagship infrastructure projects, particularly the Lagos‑Calabar Coastal Highway, which he said now enables travel between the two cities in less than three hours. He urged transport unions to act as the bridge connecting federal policies to the grassroots.
“Our goal is to register 10 million members. With that number, you can determine the outcome of any election,” Shoga argued. “You have direct access to the people. You can halt traffic, close the airport, so your partnership is not a luxury; it is essential.”
NARTO President Alhaji Yusuf Lawal Othman underscored his union's reach, with offices in all 36 states and across six geopolitical zones. He applauded the current administration for constructing durable assets expected to last 40 to 50 years.
“Our role is not limited to backing this government, we must also ensure that the infrastructure we use is properly maintained,” Othman said.
RTEAN President Alhaji (Dr.) Musa Muhammed (Maitakobi 1) put the transport workforce at over 20 million members, and recalled his 42‑year connection with President Tinubu, stretching back to the latter’s tenure as Lagos Governor.
“No previous government has acknowledged us the way this one has,” Muhammed stated. “We move millions every day. If we are for you, we are for you, and we are not retreating.”
Both sides agreed to finalise a strategic collaboration framework within weeks, designed to turn the transport industry's operational reach into a potent political mobilisation engine for the 2027 elections.
