United Nigeria Airlines Gains Admission into IATA Interline Traffic Agreement

United Nigeria Airlines has been admitted into the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Multilateral Interline Traffic Agreement (MITA) for passenger operations, marking a major step in the carrier’s international expansion drive.

The airline’s spokesman, Chibuike Uloka, announced the development in a statement on Wednesday, describing it as a landmark achievement. He said the admission allows United Nigeria Airlines to establish code-sharing and interline partnerships with hundreds of IATA-member airlines globally.

Under the MITA framework, passengers will benefit from seamless single-ticket itineraries, through check-in of baggage, and smoother connections between United Nigeria flights and those of major international carriers.

The approval, conveyed via IATA Memorandum ADMIN/INTERLINE/4811, followed the airline’s full compliance with PSC Resolution 780.

“This marks a pivotal moment for United Nigeria Airlines, transitioning from a domestic operator to a globally recognised player capable of seamless international collaboration,” Uloka said. “This strategic move not only expands our route network but also strengthens our capacity to welcome international connecting passengers, solidifying our commitment to providing a globally integrated travel experience.”

The airline further stated that beyond regulatory approval, IATA‑MITA serves as a gateway to the world, validating its operational standards and aligning it with global best practices. United Nigeria Airlines said it is now ready to offer passengers enhanced access to global destinations through strategic partnerships.
